Things like crankshaft, camshaft, "big sensors" when they detect a problem they put you into limp in an attempt to reduce damage. When I hit about 3000 rpm, it just bogs down and wont go anything past that. Pedal to the floor, and it still only stays at 3k, no more. Doesn't matter what gear i'm in. It is designed to do that above 3000 RPM's without a load on the engine. It is called a REV LIMITER. You need to take it to a parts house and ask before hand if they can code out your computer free. Make sure you get the P codes, P0000 something. Then post them here. It will not go past 3000 rpm driving or in park, no way no how. I have 2004 ford sport trac that I just purchased & the eng sound very good it has 43000 miles. the problem is that it has no power & when you have it on park or neutral the rpm will not go over 3000rpm. there is no code or eng ligth on. I put the scanner just in case & it comes out clean no code it.

Once warmed up then stuttering of engine starts at about 3000 rpm when shifting into gears. Its not transmission though since I tested in driveway and verified while in park engine.
